Mark's ethos

"We all have values and beliefs - we couldn't function without them because they provide us with direction and meaning. They are an important part of who we are and what we do. Eliciting and making clear what your values and beliefs are is often a very useful part of therapy. So I thought it might be helpful for you if I share my values regarding Psychotherapy and Coaching - they obviously shape what I do".

My values are:
  • My job is to listen, respectively challenge and encourage new solutions.
  • Client and Therapist are equal - it is an alliance for the benefit of the client.
  • Trust is a foundation for effective therapy and is based on confidentiality, sincerity and compassion.
  • My ongoing professional development is fundamental to helping clients. We never stop learning.
My beliefs are:
  • People can and do change.
  • Effective therapy must take into account the challenges of modern life.
  • Our resources determine what we do. Learning and developing resources is a part of therapy.
  • Effective therapy can combine constructive challenge, care and humour.
  • Every person has the right to change their beliefs and values.
