Psychotherapy

"For some PSYCHOtherapy can be a scary word! Maybe because it still conjures up pictures of us "being examined" or "scrutinised". The truth is nothing like that. Sometimes in life we just need someone else to help us make sense of things. Therapy can also help you change deeper, sometimes longer-lived problems and habits we get into. It is absolutely not (in my practice anyway) about judgements from the therapist. Clients aren't "in therapy" - they come in and use the time and space and my experience to help overcome hurdles and move on"

Psychotherapy is useful where we have a number of problems which are perhaps longstanding so patience in overcoming is important. Deep change is not overnight. However it does not need to mean that it lasts for years! Many of Mark's clients achieve what they want in under 10 sessions. Some people find that seeing a therapist for a longer period of time suits them. During a first appointment with Mark a clearer assessment can be given.

There are many different forms of therapy. Mark uses Contemporary Psychotherapy - as the name suggests integrating well-established methods that fit the individual and today's lifestyles. The focus is on behavioural change using what we know works from neuroscience.
